Blood collection tubes are sterilized plastic or glass tubes used for the collection of blood samples, urine samples, and serum samples of patient for the diagnosis of blood related disease. There are significant number of reasons of blood loss that includes the utilization of blood collection tubes such as accidents, childbirth and blood vessel rupture that can cause sudden blood loss whereas illnesses such as leukemia and cancer result in loss of blood cells. Also in some conditions when a heavy menstrual bleeding is observed there may be complications that can be fatal, in such conditions blood required by the subject can be provided by the help of blood collection tubes. In 2015, in the U.S. according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), around 3,978,497 births were registered and during the procedure blood collection tubes were used as a source of providing blood to the patient as during child birth a large amount of blood is lost that can be lethal for the patient.

Also, as per WHO, in 2013, the blood donation rate was around 33.1 per 1000 population in developed countries such as U.S.,11.7 per 1000 population in middle-income countries such as India and 4.6 per 1000 population in low-income countries such as Afghanistan. Also, the blood donations were increase by 10.7 million in between 2008 to 2013.
