A session IPA, known as Rebel IPA, has recently been added by Welsh independent brewery Tiny Rebel to its portfolio of craft beers.
The new session IPA has been brewed at Rogerstone, in Wales, to deliver a taste described as "crisp and smooth" while having citrusy undertones.
It is gluten-free and vegan-friendly and sits neatly within the session IPA category (typically 3-5% ABV) at 4.3% ABV. According to the brewer, the category is "growing very rapidly" as more beer enthusiasts embrace lower-alcohol options that still "pack a punch with flavor".
The new drink was launched on 31 January, a day before the end of Dry January, in partnership with selected Fuller's pubs in London and Birmingham, where free pints were offered to consumers who asked for the Rebel IPA at the bar.
According to Tiny Rebel, it follows research which showed that one in four British consumers have taken part in Dry January at some point – but 63% of these didn't finish the challenge, and most participants threw in the towel after two weeks.
According to Tiny Rebel, this is based on a study that indicated that one-quarter of British consumers had tried Dry January at some point, but 63% of those failed to complete it, with most participants quitting at around two weeks into the challenge.
Rebel IPA is the antidote for those ready to rebel together and celebrate with a pint of something as we finally say goodbye to January," said Brad Cummings, Tiny Rebel co-founder.
He added: "Our mission has always been to craft exceptional beer that gets people talking, and we believe Rebel IPA does just that."
Cans of the new beer will hit supermarket shelves nationwide from March.
