Swizzels Launches Valentine’s Day-Inspired Squashies Love Hearts Edition

In the run-up to Valentine's Day, Swizzels, a leading British confectionery manufacturer, has been launched with a new limited-edition variant, Squashies Love Hearts, with the intention of catching the consumer imagination.

This design combines the soft texture with the iconic messaging of the Love Hearts and acts as an attraction to retailers as much as consumers. The messages and funny emoji are displayed in every type of foam sweets and have stayed in the mainstream flavours that classic Love Hearts deliver - there are flavors for Pineapple, Lime, Blackcurrant, Lemon, Cherry and Orange included.

A quantity of 12 is shipped within cases to trade in 120g bags which would retail on an MSRP basis at £1.15. According to market data, Swizzels' brand of Squashies is the leading sugar confectionery brand in the UK.

On the other hand, Love Hearts continues to experience robust growth as it sells 950,000 units in the Valentine's season and also saw a 10% year-on-year growth in brand value. The launching of Squashies Love Hearts is expected to complement retailers' product lines while drawing on both brands' well-established consumer bases.

According to Clare Newton, trade marketing manager at Swizzels, "Squashies Love Hearts bring something new to retailers' offerings, appealing to shoppers looking for unique yet familiar treats for themselves or as a special gift.

"Swizzles” Love Hearts range is the staple during Valentine's, and the top SKU has been the 39g Giant Love Hearts rolls, moving 621,000 units last season.
