Ranpak is adding three new automated solutions to its portfolio in an aim to drive productivity improvements.
The three new products are combining automation and protective paper technology into integrated solutions designed to empower packers, packaging operators, and producers to achieve greater quality, consistency, and sustainability from their packaging operations while improving labor efficiency and ergonomics.
It can now supply 100% recyclable, biodegradable and renewable paper pads directly to the packer with efficiency from the multi-station PadPak, automatically eliminating multiple converters and greatly improving ergonomics. An automated line accommodates one central PadPak paper converter supplying up to ten continuous packing stations. A modular and versatile solution, it helps save space and offers layouts that fit specific packaging needs.
DecisionTower with FillPak Trident uses the vision capabilities of Ranpak's DecisionTower solution to measure voids and dispense the precise amount of kerbside-recyclable paper void fill material, this time through a connected FillPak Trident converter. Combining advanced vision technology with sustainable paper packaging materials leads to minimizing waste, consistency in the process, thereby creating a much better unboxing experience for the customer.
The solution can achieve up to 35% paper reduction, Ranpak said, because of active void measurement and the use of a unique triangle-shaped paper pads that the FillPak Trident converter dispenses, engineered to fill space with the minimum required amount of paper materials. The solution automatically adjusts to different box types and void volumes for ease of use with limited-to-no operator training.
The last option of Pad'it automatically provides waved paper cushioning at the bottom, top, or at both top and bottom ends of a package in a box to give another layer of cushioning inside. This creates pads and places them and then picks, with automation minimising human effort and very less operator training is required. It can add additional padding to up to 15 boxes per minute and ensures precise pad placement by using a robotic arm and the WrapPak Protector converter.
