Nestlé is launching a new mocha-flavoured KitKat, which it has created with its hit coffee brand, Nescafé.
The tie-up is designed to rethink the coffee break experience for consumers and to capitalise on the synergies between two of the company's best-known brands.
The new Mocha KitKat is a crunchy wafer biscuit smothered in coffee-flavored chocolate coating, this time targeted at fulfilling consumers searching for a snack to pair their coffee craving.
Each two-finger bar contains 104 calories, so it is a moderate snack for daily consumption. The product is artificial color, flavor, and preservative-free, and it is labeled as suitable for vegetarians, which reflects current consumer demands for cleaner labels and food-sourcing transparency.
Angelica De Los Rios Granja, Nestlé UK & Ireland's brand manager for KitKat, commented: "This partnership unites two favorite brands to deliver the ultimate break experience".
The focus on enhancing the coffee break experience is part of a broader trend across the food and beverage industry, where brands are looking to innovate through category crossovers.
Nestlé's commitment to sustainability can be shown in the sourcing of ingredients of their products. The cocoa for KitKats comes from cocoa farming families that are part of Nestlé's Income Accelerator Programme meant to increase the income of the cocoa farmers.
Along with the new mocha-flavored treat, Nestlé has also recently widened its KitKat line with the addition of KitKat Hazelnut and KitKat Sharing Blocks. This expansion strategy is in line with Nestlé's efforts to remain competitive in the market, particularly among youth who value novelty and variety in their snacks.
For those in the mood for a warm drink, Nestlé is also introducing the Nescafé KitKat flavor latte, once more bridging the gap between its coffee and confectionery operations.
