In 2022, Lonza announced plans to build a large-scale fill and finish facility for commercial medicinal products, aimed at supporting clients through all stages of the product life cycle. To achieve its strategic goal of offering a complete commercial fill and finish solution and strengthening its value chain, Lonza invested approximately CHF 500 million in the new facility.
In 2022, International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) successfully sold its microbial control business unit to the specialty chemicals company LANXESS. After the deal was finalized, LANXESS became one of the largest global providers of microbiological control solutions. This acquisition expanded LANXESS's network to include two production facilities in the United States, located in Institute, West Virginia, and St. Charles, Louisiana. The newly acquired business will be integrated into LANXESS's Material Protection Products division.
