Increasing adoption of radars to improve weather forecast is driving growth of the market
The rise in adoption of new radar by the weather forecaster for improving the weather prediction is one of the factors that help in increasing the demand of weather radar. The changes in the climatic conditions increase the risk of extreme weather condition such as droughts, flooding, and heat-waves. Weather radar systems are used in weather forecasting, hydrological applications, and flood warnings, as they provide qualitative and quantitative data about the atmosphere. Furthermore, these radars are widely used in climate research, which requires ground verification for global precipitation measurements by satellites. Data collected by these radars is then processed to identify the changes in the climate and environment. Rising prevalence of airplane-related injuries and deaths and increasing damage caused by extreme weather conditions is increasing the demand for weather radars. For instance, according to the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) analysis, 58,687 general aviation accidents caused due to foggy weather, were recorded from 1982 to 2013. Weather radars are also used across several sectors including agriculture, natural resources, fisheries, construction, aviation, tourism, transportation, and retail. For instance, weather-radar imagery is used to safely route planes around severe weather. Increasing demand for these radars for application in these sectors, in turn, is expected to propel growth of the weather radar market.
