Spunbound Nonwoven Market Key Developments:
- In February 2018, Toray Industries, Inc. acquired a business plot covering 350,000 m2 area, in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, India for new production base for polypropylene spunbounds utilized for hygiene materials. This new base is for company&s subsidiary Toray Industries (India) Private Limited. Production operation is expected to start in April 2020 with annual production capacity of about 18,000 tons
- In May 2018, Kimberly-Clark Corporation announced their plans of expansion and improvements of their nonwovens manufacturing plant at North Carolina. Kimberly-Clark has approved US$ 30 million for expansion of this plant which is involved in manufacturing of nonwoven materials for company&s adult and feminine care brands in North America. This expansion is expected to increase production capacity of company&s nonwoven materials.
- In March 2019, Asahi Kasei Corporation announced to expand its production capacity of spunbond nonwoven materials at its subsidiary, Asahi Kasei Spunbond (Thailand) Co., Ltd (AKST). This expansion will be done by adding a new production line with capacity of 15,000 tons/year of spunbound nonwovens which in turn is expected to increase total capacity for spunbond nonwovens at AKST to 50,000 tons/year.
