In March 2024, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. intends to open a research and development center in Hong Kong, located at the Hong Kong Science Park. They plan to hire approximately 500 employees for this center. This move is considered strategic, as it allows the company to take advantage of Hong Kong's international status and talented workforce while expanding its global market presence.
In June 2023, FinDreams, the battery division of Chinese automaker BYD, is teaming up with Huaihai Holding Group. Together, they plan to provide sodium-ion batteries for small electric vehicles.
In May 2022, Natron Energy, Inc. and Clarios International Inc. announced a strategic partnership to manufacture sodium-ion batteries. Clarios' Meadowbrook facility will become the world's largest and first mass-produced sodium-ion battery plant, starting production in 2023 with an annual capacity of 600MW.
In June 2021, HiNa Battery Technology Co., Ltd. collaborated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences to establish a 1 MWh sodium-ion battery-based solar energy storage system in Taiyuan, China. This system includes a micro-grid that combines solar cells, grid power, and charging stations.
