In August 2022, global shipping container suppliers, China International Marine Containers and Maersk Container Industry, jointly announced the abandonment of their merger plan. Citing significant regulatory challenges, the decision was made to not proceed with the merger, which was initially agreed upon in September 2021. The merger would have involved China International Marine Containers acquiring the Denmark-based shipping company, AP Moeller – Maersk, a refrigerated containers maker, for USD 987.3 million, potentially impacting the global cold supply chain.
