Resuscitation is a process of correcting physiological disorders such as lack of breathing or when no pulse in detected in an acutely unwell patient. Resuscitation masks are pliable, dome shaped breathing device that fit over the nose and mouth, which can be of particular fixed size or adjustable. The oxygen concentration is up to 35-55% with 6-15 LPM common flow rate in the resuscitation masks. There are two types of resuscitation processes, namely cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mouth to mouth resuscitation. Resuscitation masks are mainly used when a person has a cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest.

Resuscitation masks are personal protective equipment used for mouth to mouth resuscitation. When the emergency responder exhales through a one-way filter valve, the air is administered into the patient. The resuscitation masks are either built in one-way or an attachable, disposable filter valve in provided to protect the emergency responder due to patient’s potentially to pass infectious bodily substances such as blood or vomit. After single use the filter between the resuscitation masks is changed or made sterile. Furthermore, resuscitation mask is available in different size as it needs to fit properly to the patient. Resuscitation masks are kept in first aid as it can be useful at any time when anyone suffer from breathing problem keeping both rescuer and the victim safe.
