North America has established itself as the dominant region in the global PET bottles market with 39.3% of the market share in 2024. With strong industry presence of key players like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Dr Pepper Snapple Group, the PET bottles market in North America enjoys significant economies of scale. These companies have been in the beverage manufacturing business for decades and have mastered the complex bottling supply chain process. Given their scale and experience, they are able to negotiate favorable terms with raw material and machinery suppliers. This allows them to offer PET bottles at competitive prices compared to bottlers in other regions.  Additionally, the robust recycling infrastructure in the region helps bolster the supply of recycled PET flakes - a major raw material for producing PET bottles. Many local municipalities have established curbside recycling programs which ensure a steady supply of used bottles. Companies also operate in-house recycling programs to recover and reuse bottles. This lowers their dependence on virgin PET and reduces costs. Recycled PET is also relatively cheaper than virgin material, bringing down overall bottling costs.

The Asia Pacific region, especially China, is witnessing the fastest growth. With rising incomes and changing consumer preferences, the consumption of packaged beverages is surging. International beverage giants like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have significantly expanded their presence here through joint-ventures, acquisitions and Greenfield plants. Chinese companies are also strongly enhancing PET manufacturing capabilities to cater to the booming domestic demand. Given the size of its population and economy, even a small increase in per capita consumption can translate into huge volumes. Further, China dominates the global PET recycling industry with advanced recycling facilities coming up across major cities. This is expected to meet the ballooning demand for recycled PET from the region's bottlers.
