Passive Optical Network Equipment Market, By Structure (Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) Equipment, and Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) Equipment), By Component (Optical Line Terminal (OLT), and Optical Network Terminal (ONT)), By Geography (North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Africa)
In September 2023, Precision Optical Technologies Inc., a US-based system engineering and integration company, introduced "OpenPath" - a groundbreaking solution that enables network operators to deploy their own Passive Optical Networks (PONs) more efficiently. The OpenPath solution includes key components of a PON infrastructure, such as Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), optical components, splitters, Optical Network Units (ONUs), and advanced controller software.
In August 2021, CommScope, a U.S.-based infrastructure provider, introduced its Coexistence portfolio to empower global service providers with a seamless path to upgrade their Passive Optical Network (PON) infrastructure. This innovative solution enables service providers to enhance their network capabilities and deliver new services, including enterprise, mobile backhaul, and residential offerings, without the need to replace or add additional fiber to the existing network infrastructure.
In May 2020, Nokia announced a strategic collaboration with Openreach, the UK's largest digital network business, to deploy GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) and XGS-PON (10 Gigabit Symmetric Passive Optical Network) fiber access technologies. This partnership aims to empower Openreach in its mission to expand its fiber-rich network and bring high-speed broadband connectivity to 4.5 million premises across the United Kingdom.
