Global Metallocene Polyethylene Market: Recent Developments

In July 2019, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), designed a new capacity for polyethylene plant by using Univation Technologies’ UNIPOL PE Process. This plant is capable of manufacturing a wide range of PE products such as metallocene & LLDPE, MDPE, and unimodal & bimodal HDPE.
In October 2017, Borouge and Borealis launched a brand named Anteo, which linear LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene) packaging grades mainly for the packaging segment. Anteo finishes the full solution, and offers high performance flexible packaging applications enabled by Borealis Borstar Bimodal Terpolymer (BBT) Technology.
In May 2018, the Dow Chemical Company, acquired the complete ownership of Univation Technologies. This was a 50/50 joint venture between Dow and Exxon Mobil Chemical Company. This development strategy enabled Dow to focus on investing in businesses with strong competitive positions in attractive markets.
In July 2017, NOVA Chemicals Corporation, completed the acquisition of Williams Partners L.P.’s indirect ownership interest in the Geismar, Louisiana, U.S., olefins plant. It is the largest refining and petrochemical production hub in North America. This development strategy enabled the company to enhance the production capacity of ethylene and strengthen its foothold in the LLDPE market.
