In 2022, Cargill opened a new maize wet mill in Pandaan, Indonesia, to meet the growing demand for starches, sweeteners, and feed in Asia and Indonesia. This facility produces maize starches that are transformed into high-value specialty products such as maltodextrin, sorbitol, and glucose. These products are then distributed to over 40 countries across Asia and Africa, including Egypt, Japan, the Philippines, India, South Africa, Australia, and Vietnam.
In 2021, Cargill launched a new product, a maltodextrin substitute made from rice flour maltodextrin substitute for the replacement of wheat and gluten in consumer diets
In 2021, Cargill announced a strategic partnership with Starpro, the leading producer of food-grade tapioca starch in Thailand. This collaboration aims to expand Cargill's specialty tapioca starch offerings in the Asia Pacific region. The partnership supports the product processing needs of food manufacturers and helps meet the sensory expectations of consumers in the region.
