Global Laser Vision Correction Market: Key Trends
In May 2022, London Vision Clinic (a subsidiary of EuroEyes UK ), a clinic that offers laser eye surgery treatments, announced the development of a new flap-less ReLEx SMILE procedure which is a minimally-invasive laser eye surgery technique. SMILE does not require the removal of epithelium from the cornea. Instead, surgeons are able to access and draw out tissue from the corneal bed through a tiny keyhole, created using a precise laser.
The growing incidences of approvals from regulatory bodies of respective countries regarding laser vision correction are a major factor leading to the high demand for laser vision correction devices. For instance, in June 2022, LENSAR, Inc., a global medical technology company focused on advanced femtosecond laser surgical solutions for the treatment of cataracts, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave clearance for its next-generation ALLY Adaptive Cataract Treatment System. ALLY enables cataract surgeons to complete the femtosecond-laser-assisted cataract surgery procedure in a single, sterile environment.
