Drivers
Graphene conductive films are also used as a raw material in automotive/cars to make them lighter and safer. Growth of the automotive industry worldwide is expected to drive growth of the global graphene market. Increasing use of graphene in the development of various instruments and equipment such as sport equipment’s, smartphones, wearable batteries, super-capacitors, supercars is expected to boost the market growth. For instance, in August 2019, researchers from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, developed a quantum-limited detector (a device that responds to stimulus) using graphene. Quantum detectors are devices that convert incoming photons directly into an electrical signal, as opposed to thermal detectors that rely on the conversion of incoming radiation into heat.
The use of graphene in the healthcare sector is also expected to aid in growth of the market. For instance, in August 2019, researchers from King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, reported the development of a hybrid nanoparticle that consisted of a Doxorubicin (a type of chemotherapy drug called an anthracycline)-loaded reduced graphene oxide that is stabilized with chitosan, a sugar that comes from the outer skeleton of shellfish, including crab, lobster, and shrimp. For feasible and viable delivery of Doxorubicin photo-thermally in the treatment of prostate cancer.
