Global Dual Clutch Transmission Market - Trends:
Automotive OEMs are focused to form joint ventures
In cost-sensitive markets, the acceptance of DMT is minimal. Moreover, some regions, especially North America, have preferred automated manual transmission technology. Hence, suppliers and automotive OEMs are focused on partnering and forming joint ventures, in order to increase the penetration of DCT technology in low penetration markets. For instance, In March 2020, Lumax was planning for a dual clutch trasmission gear shifter, which is understood to be cleared for the state of production. The Tata Altron automatic will be using a Schaeffler wet clutch dual clutch transmission.
DCTs for commercial vehicle segment use
Automotive OEMs are focused on manufacturing smart DCTs for commercial vehicle segment use. In January 2023, Tata AutoComp, whose capabilities span the entire automotive value chain from manufacturing to engine and the supply chain itself, has locked in on this new business opportunity. It will be setting up a dedicated unit for manufacturing compact dual clutch transmissions (DCTs) in Chakan, Maharashtra, which will be operational in the next six months (Q1 FY2024), a senior company executive told Autocar Professional.
Global Dual Clutch Transmission Market was valued at US$ 17.2 Bn in 2022 and is forecast to reach a value of US$ 29.03 Bn by 2030, exhibiting CAGR of 6.8% between 2023 and 2030.
