In January 2024, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), launched the Innovation in Behavioral Health (IBH) Model. This model is designed to improve care for Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries by addressing their behavioral, physical, and social needs. It aims to enhance care quality and outcomes for adults with mental health or substance use disorders, while also strengthening health IT infrastructure and capacity.
In May 2022, Franklin County Medical Center (FCMC) launched a new mental health program using the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) in partnership with Fitz Ilias. This initiative aims to enhance access to mental health services and integrate behavioral health care into primary care, providing patients with timely and effective treatment.
