New Launches

• In April 2022, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, inaugurated the initial phase of a cloud seeding program over Riyadh, Qassim, and Hail regions. With Saudi Arabia facing severe aridity and minimal annual rainfall, the initiative aims to enhance precipitation rates to combat water scarcity.
• In October 2022, cloud seeding might see increased adoption in Colorado as the water crisis in the western United States continues to escalate. North American Weather Consultants is already conducting cloud seeding operations along the upper Gunnison River, and the upcoming initiative in Boulder County could be one of the pioneering efforts on the Front Range. A new operation is also in the works along the St. Vrain headwaters west of Longmont, with operations slated to commence this winter.
• Ethiopia also announced its entry into the cloud seeding market in March 2021 when the government revealed that the rains that fell across the country this month were a result of the government's efforts to modernize its technology.
• In December 2020, China unveiled ambitious plans to significantly expand its weather modification efforts, involving the creation of artificial rainfall and snowfall. Their aim is to encompass an extensive region spanning 5.5 million square kilometers by the year 2025.
• During the first half of 2020, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in the UAE reported conducting 219 cloud seeding operations nationwide. These operations utilized a total of 4,841 flares, all produced by the NCM's Emirates Weather Enhancement Factory.
