Global Breathalyzers Market: Key Developments

In May 2020, Cannabix Technologies Inc., developer of marijuana breathalyzer devices for law enforcement and the workplace, report that the company has developed a new version of its THC Breath Analyzer (“THCBA”) and is preparing for additional testing with the device. The company engineers have updated several components in the THCBA and have changed the form factor for improved handling. Cannabix Technologies is at the forefront in research and development to create point-of-care breath testing technologies for the detection of ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol the psychoactive component of marijuana that causes impairment.

In 2021, Dragerwerk AG & Co. KGaA makes breathing and protection equipment, gas detection and analysis systems, and noninvasive patient monitoring technologies in Germany, launched Dräger Alcotest 7000 for professional use which can perform a particularly large number of alcohol tests in a very short time, provide reliable results even in extreme temperatures, and also offers quick data transfer.

In October 2022, the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre, an international research & development organization, active in the fields of nanoelectronics and digital technologies, with headquarters in Belgium, developed a chip-based Breath Analyzer Test for COVID-19 infection in contrast to traditional saliva or mucous swab-based test.

In December 2021, SOTECH specializes in smart IoT, trackable out-of-home advertising, and data gathering to help clinics understand the volume, partnered with researchers at the University of Texas, and developed a sensor that could perform a rapid breath test for COVID-19 infection in just 30 seconds.
