In 2015, Cargill Incorporated accomplished the acquisition of EWOS, which deals in the salmon nutrition. The acquisition was aimed to develop sustainable nutrition solution and research in the field of aquafeed solution.
In June, 2016, Alltech Inc. acquired Coppens International, an aquatic feed solution company based in Netherlands. Acquisition aimed to expand business of Alltech Inc. in aquafeed market.
In October, 2018, Cargill launched plant based fish oil alternatives which provides omega 3 fatty acids for aquafeed namely Latitude. The product is made from Canola oilseeds and includes eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and docosapentaenoic acid (DPA). Furthermore, it reduces dependency on marine ingredients, including forage fish, and provides assurance against environmental degradation and overfishing of our oceans.
In August 2019, Cargill Incorporated enters into agreement with White Dogs Lab to expand its offerings of sustainable alternatives to fishmeal in aqua feed. White Dogs Lab to produce ProTyton which is a single-cell protein produced by fermentation with corn feedstock.
