Anesthesia endotracheal tubes are a type of catheter inserted in the trachea during endotracheal intubation to produce an anesthesia effect by introducing gaseous mixture through a tube. There are two types of endotracheal tubes for anesthesia management, the orotracheal tube and the nasotracheal tube. The nasotracheal tube is embedded through the nose into the trachea and the orotracheal tube is embedded through the mouth into the trachea.
Global anesthesia endotracheal tube market is estimated to be valued at US$ 178.7 million in 2022 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 6.2% during the forecast period (2022-2030).

Increasing number of chronic surgeries is expected to drive the growth of the anesthesia endotracheal tube market.
Different surgical procedures require administration of anesthesia through endotracheal tubes to manage treatment of various diseases such as gastrointestinal diseases, cardiovascular diseases, spinal abnormalities, urological disorders, orthopedic deformities, and brain tumors. Therefore, increasing number of surgical procedures worldwide is projected to fuel growth of the anesthesia endotracheal tubes market over the forecast period. For instance, in January 2021, according National Center for Biotechnology Information, globally, a 310 million major surgeries are performed each year, around 40 to 50 million in the U.S. and 20 million in Europe. Global estimates indicate that on an average 8 million patients die every year globally from major surgery, and up to twice this number experience postoperative complications. Intubation, or placement of an endotracheal tube. All clinicians who work in emergency rooms, operating rooms, peri-operative areas, and intensive care units (all places with intubated patients).

Increase in aging population, which suffers from asthma, pulmonary disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is expected to favor the anesthesia endotracheal tubes market growth.
Increase in aging population, which suffers from asthma, pulmonary disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is expected to favor the anesthesia endotracheal tubes market growth. According to world ageing population reports in the U.S. between 2017 and 2030, the number of people in the world aged 60 years or over is projected to grow by 56 per cent, from 901 million to 1.4 billion, and by 2050, the global population of older persons is projected to be more than double its size in 2015, reaching nearly 2.1 billion.
Moreover, according to American Lung Association, in 2018, 9.0 million adults, or 3.6% of those aged 18 or older, had chronic bronchitis. Overall, 15 studies reported the prevalence of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease using the standard diagnostic criteria and post-bronchodilation spirometry. Approximately 10 percent of individuals aged 40 years or older have COPD, although the prevalence varies between countries and increases with age. It is the fourth-ranked cause of death in the U.S., harming more than 120,000 individuals each year and the third leading cause worldwide.
Global Anesthesia Endotracheal Tube Market– Impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic
Since the COVID-19 virus outbreak in December 2019, the disease has spread to over 100 countries across the globe and the World Health Organization had declared it a public health emergency on January 30, 2020.
COVID-19 can affect the economy in three main ways: by directly affecting production and demand of drugs, by creating disruptions in distribution channels, and through its financial impact on firms and financial markets. Due to nationwide lockdowns, several countries, such as China, India, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Egypt, and others, are facing problems with regards to the transportation of drugs from one place to another.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic had a positive impact on the global anesthesia endotracheal tube market, owing to increase in demand for patients with pulmonary disorders. For instance, in October 2021, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) showed that high rates of postoperative pulmonary complications and mortality were reported in an observational international study of 1128 patients with perioperative COVID-19 who underwent a variety of surgical procedures. Pulmonary complications occurred in 51 percent of patients, among those patients 30 day mortality was 38 percent. Overall mortality was higher after emergency surgery compared with elective surgery (26 versus 19 percent), and was higher in men, in patients >70 years of age. Of the 280 patients who had elective surgery, 22 were diagnosed with COVID-19 preoperatively and two of them died. The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) have issued a 2022 joint statement on elective surgery after COVID-19 infection, with general guidelines on timing of elective surgery based on the severity of symptoms at the time of infection, ongoing symptoms, comorbidities, and complexity of surgery. Several guidelines developed during the COVID-19 pandemic recommended routinely performing rapid sequence induction and intubation (RSII) for patients with COVID-19, primarily to avoid the aerosol generation that may be associated with mask ventilation.
Global Anesthesia Endotracheal Tube Market: Key Developments
In November 2021, GE Healthcare, a subsidiary of the U.S. based multinational conglomerate General Electric incorporated in New York received the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Clearance for First X-ray AI to help assess endotracheal tube placement. GE Healthcare announced it had received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm to help clinicians assess Endotracheal Tube (ETT) placements. The AI solution is one of five included in GE Healthcare’s Critical Care Suite 2.0, an industry-first collection of AI algorithms embedded on a mobile x-ray device for automated measurements, case prioritization and quality control.
Global Anesthesia Endotracheal Tube Market: Restraint
The major factors that hinder growth of the global anesthesia endotracheal tube market include lack of proper health care facilities especially in the underdeveloped countries as well as in remote areas. Lack of proper health care facilities especially in the underdeveloped countries as well as in remote areas, product recalls and presence of few anesthetists and certified nurses per capita of population are likely to inhibit growth of the anesthesia endotracheal tube in the anesthesia endotracheal tube market. For instance, in November 2017, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, endotracheal intubation is the placement of a tube into the trachea, either orally or nasally for airway management. Airway management is one of the most important skills of the physician. Failure to provide required airflow can cause death or sequelae of the patient, especially in emergency conditions. Intubation without medication to trauma patients with high Glasgow Coma Scale is not safe, resulting in intracranial pressure increase, vomiting, esophageal intubation, and aspiration risk. Special procedures are required in pediatric patients and newborns, and their indications for endotracheal intubation can show variability.
