Adapalene is a medication, which is used to treat mild to moderate acne. Moreover, adapalene reduces the deposition of the keratin in skin and hence this helps in the effective treatment for keratosis pilaris and callus. Additionally, adapalene suppress the inflammatory response and inhibit lipoxygenase activity and oxidative metabolism of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins,  therefore, adapalene is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Adapalene can be used in combination with benzoyl peroxide as well as with antimicrobial agent such as clindamycin to enhance the maximum efficiency for the treatment.

Adapalene is available under the brand name of Differin and in different forms such as cream, gel, and lotion. In the U.S., adapalene is available in three different preparation that include 0.1% cream, 0.1% gel, and 0.3% gel, while only 0.1% cream and 0.1% gel are available in Europe. Adapalene is generally used daily once during bedtime and are not applicable to the skin that is sunburned, or broken and until the skin has healed. Adapalene should not be used by the pregnant women, as drug is absorbed through the skin and can be harmful for the unborn baby.
