Messenger RNA (mRNA) synthesis, using DNA as the template, is called transcription. The mRNA carries the genetic information from the chromosomes' DNA in the nucleus to the surface of the cytosol. mRNA is a flexible tool that  is utilized for gene editing, cell therapy, vaccinations, and therapeutic protein replacement, among other .
