A myristic acid is a fatty acid that occurs naturally in foods as a flavor ingredients. Purified myristic acid appears to be white, yellow-white, hard, glossy, and crystalline solid. The free fatty acids, mainly myristic acid is present at maximum concentration of 1.5% with no known diluents, solvents or additives present. It is used as a wax base in pharmaceutical preparations. It is soft wax that melts at body temperature, and imparts a velvety texture that is persist after the rest of the formulation's ingredients are rinsed off. Surplus of Myristyl Myristate (3.5%) in some soap formulations results in pearl effects. Spreadability of emulsion makeups is improved at extremely low values (0.5–1%). The use of 1-1.5% in hand and body lotions imparts a richness which is comparable to the oil phase, reducing the watery sensation of these products. Myristic acid salts (calcium Myristate, Magnesium Myristate, Potassium Myristate, Sodium Myristate, and Zinc Myristate) include Aluminium Dimyristate, Aluminium Isostearates /Myristate, Aluminium Myristate, and Aluminium Myristate / Palmitate), and the esters of Myristic Acid such as (Butyl Myristate, Cetyl Myristate, Decyl Myristate, Ethylhexyl Myristate, Ethyl Myristate, Glyceryl Dimyristate, Glyceryl Isostearate / Myristate, Glyceryl Myristate, Isobutyl Myristate, Isocetyl Myristate, Isodecyl Myristate, Isopropyl Myristate, Isostearyl Myristate, Isotridecyl Myristate, Lauryl Myristate, Methyl Myristate, Myristyl Myristate, Octyldodecyl Myristate, Oleyl Myristate, Propylene Glycol Myristate, Tetradecyloctadecyl Myristate, Tridecyl Myristate) that can be used in cosmetics and personal care products. Myristic acid, its salts and esters are used in eye makeup, soaps and detergents, hair care products, nail care products, shaving products, and other skin care products. The methyl myristate can be used in skin conditioning agents. The other usage of methyl myristate include in the chemical industry in production of oil and grease used in automotive industry.
Market Dynamics
Methyl myristate is an organic substance and it is mono-consistent substance by composition. It is in solid or liquid state depends on ambient temperature, and it has its melting point of 19 °C. The production of methyl myristate is in closed process without likelihood of exposure or processes with an equivalent containment conditions. Methyl myristate is generally used in cosmetics, chemical, personal care products such as lotions, oils, powder, creams, makeup remover, perfumes, hair conditioners, and others.
