Thyroid function tests (TFTs) are a grouping of blood tests used to assess thyroid function. TFTs may be ordered if a patient is suspected of having hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) or hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), or to assess the efficacy of thyroid-suppression or hormone replacement treatment. It is also regularly recommended in thyroid-related disorders such as atrial fibrillation and anxiety disorder. Thyroid hormones such as thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH, thyrotropin), thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3) are often included in a TFT panel, depending on local laboratory protocol.A T3 test is most often used to diagnose hyperthyroidism, a condition in which the body makes too much thyroid hormone. T3 tests are frequently ordered with T4 and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) tests. A T3 test may also be used to monitor treatment for thyroid disease
Market Dynamics
The key market players are focusing on adoption of growth strategies such as adopting new technologies which is expected to spur which is attributed to the growth of the Thyroid function test market. For instance, in January 16, 2023, Metropolis Healthcare, a diagnostics center and pathology lab in India equipped with the technologies that provides the Thyroid panel-1 (T3/T4/TSH). Doctors spread awareness about the thyroid gland, its importance in overall health and the need for thyroid diagnosis for the timely detection of thyroid conditions. A thyroid panel is a group of tests that are done together to help analyse thyroid gland function and to help diagnose thyroid disorders. The tests in the thyroid panel help measure the amount of thyroid hormones in the blood.
