Fiber in the loop refers to the use of optical fiber in telecommunications networks, usually referred to as FTTH (fiber to the home). It is used to deliver triple- and quad-play voice, video, and data services over either a pure-fiber network or a hybrid fiber-coaxial cable-based network. In a pure-fiber network, FTTH provides high-speed internet access over existing copper telephone and cable wiring to residential homes or businesses. In a hybrid network, the fiber extends from the carrier’s central office to a building, where it is combined with internet and television signals that travel over existing copper connections to the end user’s living or workspaces.
Market Dynamics:
Increased demand for high-speed internet connectivity and the emergence of smart homes are driving the growth of the global fiber in the loop market. In addition, the growing adoption of VoIP services and virtual private networks is also expected to drive growth in this market.
However, the high initial cost required to deploy Fiber to the home network is a major factor anticipated to hamper the growth of the global fiber in the loop market over the forecast period. Moreover, the availability of substitute technologies is expected to obstruct market growth. Despite these challenges, this market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
