In June 2022, Brenntag announced a partnership with Al-Azzaz Chemicals Company, a Saudi Arabia-based specialty chemicals distributor, via a 75-25 joint venture. The joint venture was expected to be completed by August 2022 and aimed to expand Brenntag's presence and footprint in the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Saudi Arabia.
In March 2021, Vynova launched an ISCC PLUS-certified renewable caustic soda that is manufactured from clean sources and has a lower carbon footprint compared to conventional caustic sodas. The renewable caustic soda is produced using electricity generated from renewable energy input like wind, solar, aerothermal, geothermal, or water in Vynova's membrane electrolysis process.
In November 2020, Meghmani Organics, an India-based company, announced an investment of INR 3.2 billion (approximately USD 400 million) for expanding its sodium hydroxide production. This investment was part of a larger plan to increase the company's topline by INR 700 crore (approximately USD 900 million) on a full-financial year basis.
Chemfab Alkalis, an India-based company, announced in November 2020 that it had received consent to operate (CTO) for caustic soda lye, enhancing its capacity from the existing capacity of 56,575 TPA to 65,700 TPA without any additional investments.
