In October 2023, River Metals Recycling (RMR), a Nucor recycling subsidiary, acquired all assets of Garden Street Iron & Metal in Cincinnati, Ohio. This acquisition brought RMR's total recycling facilities to nineteen, further strengthening Nucor's recycling capabilities in the region.
In January 2022, Glencore, a Switzerland-based metals and commodities trading company, announced its intention to enhance its electronics recycling initiatives to extract copper. In October 2021, Advantage Metals Recycling (AMR), a Nucor subsidiary, acquired Grossman Iron and Steel in St. Louis, Missouri. This acquisition increased AMR's recycling facilities to twelve, enhancing Nucor's capacity to process ferrous and nonferrous metals, including copper.
