In January 2024, researchers led by Professor Myoung-Hwan Park from Sahmyook University, South Korea, developed a novel, light-responsive nanofiber-based drug delivery system (DDS) targeting skin cancer. Published in the Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology, this study encompasses the synthesis, characterization, biocompatibility, drug release profile, and efficacy of the DDS.
In September 2023, Evonik, a Germany-based specialty chemicals company, enhanced its parenteral drug delivery solutions with three new standard PLA-PEG di-block copolymers (RESOMER RP d) and introduced a nanoparticle formulation service using nanosonication technology. These copolymers are designed for nanoparticle formation and are ideal for various parenteral drug delivery applications, including controlled and sustained release products. Nanosonication, a novel process developed by Evonik, addresses manufacturing challenges and facilitates cGMP production of drug delivery nanoparticles, leveraging the compatibility of RESOMER RP d polymers.
