On April 23, 2023, 3M, a multinational conglomerate company, announced that the company received approval from U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 3M veraflo therapy, with both 3M veraflo cleanse choice complete dressing and 3M V.A.C. Veraflo is a hydromechanical removal of infectious materials, non-viable tissue and wound debris which reduces the number of surgical debridements required, while promoting granulation tissue formation, thus creating an environment that promotes wound healing.
On January 3, 2023, Convatec, a global medical products and technologies company, announced the U.S. launch of ConvaFoam, a family of advanced foam dressings that are designed to address the needs of healthcare providers and their patients. ConvaFoam can be used on a spectrum of wound types at any stage of the wound journey, thereby making it the simple dressing choice for wound management and skin protection.
In October 2021, Healthium Medtech Limited., a global medtech company focused on products that are used in surgical, post-surgical and chronic care, launched TRUSHIELD NXT surgical wound dressing, thus adding to its portfolio of patented products in the wound care and infection prevention segments. In December 2021, Essity Aktiebolag (publ), a biotechnology company, acquired Hydrofera, the company offers technology and products within advanced wound care. In February 2021, DeRoyal Industries, Inc., announced partnership with Tyndall National Institute, a Europe based research centre, and University of Medicine and Health Sciences, a private, for-profit medical school, to innovate the next generation of compression wound care therapy.
