New Product Launches
- On April 16, 2022, YouTube expanded its Super Thanks feature to all eligible creators in the YouTube Partner Program. The feature allowed viewers to tip creators for individual uploaded videos. The company mentioned that millions of creators in 68 countries gained access to this monetization feature. Before this expansion, the feature had been available to a randomized number of creators. Eligible creators were able to enable Super Thanks through YouTube Studio.
- On April 07, 2022, Patreon, a platform for creators and their most passionate fans, announced that it had raised US$ 155 million in Series F financing. The funding round was led by new investor Tiger Global Management, with participation from Woodline Partners and existing investors Wellington Management, Lone Pine Capital, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Glade Brook Capital, and DFJ Growth. This investment came as the number of creators continued to increase worldwide, along with their desire to create deeper connections with their fans. The additional investment increased Patreon's valuation to USD 4 billion.
